About

Ginny Connell

Nurse Ginny has seen it all, having worked across aged care, palliative care, community health and various hospital settings (intensive care, oncology, surgical, orthopaedic, urology, gynecology, neurology and respiratory).  Her interest in plant medicine came from repeatedly seeing the harmful side effects that traditional and opioid medicines can have and the positive health outcomes that can be achieved through legitimate alternatives.  For Nurse Ginny, this became personal earlier this year when Ginny’s elderly mother Joan fell at home sustaining serious fractures. In hospital, Joan was given various opiate based analgesia and like so many elderly, she was unable to tolerate these medications. Not only did she remain in pain, she also fell into an acute and distressing delirium. When Ginny was misinformed by medical staff that cannabis medicines were unavailable for Joan, she was determined to get more personally involved in providing access and education around plant medicine. Ginny is committed to ensuring no person, young or old, suffers from their medical condition unnecessarily.

Ginny lives on the Surf Coast in Victoria, and continues to work part time in community mental health and palliative care roles.

Nurse Ginny holds the following roles and certifications:
Bachelor of Nursing
Diploma of Nursing Management and Certificate 4 in Education and Training
Graduate Diploma in Mental Health - starting 2022
